The Minnesota Grizzly Bear

Roaring about life since 2009

Crankshaft Primitive, 12/8/09

Absolutely amazing one-man blues band from Anoka, MN.  The Decomposeurs opened for him at the Nestor this past tuesday (Dec. 8th) and it was just a blast to watch, especially when he pulled out “They’re Red Hot” by Robert Johnson and, last but not least, one of my favorite Elmore James songs “Shake Your Moneymaker.”  I didn’t even request it, he just closed his set with it.  He and Blind Joe had a great banter through Crankshaft’s whole set, it was hilarious.  The guy’s originals were very well done too, no “imitation” blues or blues-light(white?).

Final score?  Hell yes!  Mad props to this MN bluesman!

Check him out, from 2008:

Have it good,

-Mike
